Panasonic DC-GH5 Digital SLR is a true hybrid camera designed to shoot 4k, 1080p and stills all onto SD cards. This large chip digital camera provides superb quality 4k and 1080p video with a shallow depth of field similar to film, without the aliasing, audio or design problems typical of a DSLR. Provides superb image quality comparable with much more expensive digital cameras. Panasonics advanced sensor without an optical low pass filter combined with their Venus engine processor provide very sharp and natural looking images without resorting to artificial edge enhancement. Provides Cinema 4k 4096 x 2160 (1.90 aspect ratio) and UHD 4k 3840 x 2160 4:2:2 10 bit at bit rates up to 400Mbps. Also shoots Full HD 1920 x 1080 4:2:2 10 bit up to 200Mbps. All bit rates record to internal SD cards. Full recording specs are at end of this equipment list. All of the above are available as MP4 or MOV files for easy editing. Can also shoot AVCHD for very long record times and good quality. Variable frame rates up to 60 fps are available in 4k and 180fps in HD. Excellent low light performance makes this camera great for night exteriors or any low light situation. Top mounted audio unit makes audio recording easy and includes XLR audio inputs with manual level controls with switchable phantom power. Camera has 2 card slots and a full sized HDMI output switchable for 4k or 1080p for compatibility with any HD monitor. Built in 5 axis image stabilization provides smoother hand held shots with any lens. Also features a high resolution OLED viewfinder and LCD flip out screen, variable ISO and white balance, color bars, zebras, waveform monitor and more. Camera has various gamma settings with adjustable contrast, saturation and hue to create different looks including Cine Like V and Cine Like D. I currently offer 7 different “looks” plus V-log and Hybrid Log Gamma. V-log features a very flat gamma curve and provides the biggest tonal range the camera can offer, about 12 stops. It is ideal for post production color grading and shooting for HDR. Hybrid log gamma is great for shooting programs that will be finished in both standard Rec. 709 and Rec. 2020 and for shooting for the upcoming ATSC 3.0 broadcast standard that uses HLG. The GH5 is also an excellent still camera that can store still to one card and video to another. Manual focus Nikon lenses from the 70s and 80s provide cinema lens quality without the high cost. Excellent for any project that needs superb quality 4k or 1080p video and stills with a shallow depth of field at a affordable price.

The Sony A7r2 camera is a high resolution full frame still camera that also shoots beautiful 4k and 1080P video. Featuring Sony’s first back illuminated full frame sensor without a optical low pass filter, this camera provides extremely high resolution still images at 42 megapixels (3×2) or 36 megapixels (16×9). It also has a APSC (super 35 mode) that delivers 18 megapixels (3×2) or 15 megapixels (16×9). Shoots JPEG, Compressed Raw, or Uncompressed RAW or both. On the video side the A7r2 shoots 4k XAVC S video at 24 or 30P at 60 or 100Mbps. It also shoot 1080P XAVC S video at 24P, 30P, 60P or 120P at 50 Mbps. Also provided is 1080p AVCHD video at 60i at 24 or 17Mbps, 60P at 28 Mbps or 24P at 24 or 17Mbps. Also shoots 1080P MP4 video 60p at 28Mbps or 30P at 16Mbps or 720P video 30P at 6 Mbps. Low light performance is outstanding. All video formats can be shot full frame or using the APSC (Super 35) part of the sensor which uses no line skipping or pixel binning for 4k video (recommended). Like the GH5 many different “looks” can be set in camera. Includes Sony’s excellent Cine 4 look which is very natural with excellent highlight and shadow detail right out of the camera and Slog2 if you want to do your color grading in post. This is the camera I use for most of my still photography and a lot of video too.

The Feiyu Tech AK4000 Gimbal provides smooth handheld shots without the expense of a Steadicam operator with equipment. Works with the GH5 or A7r2 or any other DSLR style camera. Includes follow focus motor controlled by side knob and one set of long life batteries.
These Nikon mount lenses work with both the GH5 and A7r2 cameras. They don’t have follow focus gears but are available if needed.

Sirui Anamorphic lenses provide a very wide 2.40:1 aspect ratio similar to cinemascope movies using a 16×9 sensor. The wide image is squeezed to 16×9 for recording, then is un-squeezed to 2.40:1 aspect ratio in post. Provides oval out of focus light sources and beautiful blue horizontal lens flares. In Sony E-mount to fit the A7r2, shooting with the APSC (Super 35) portion of the sensor. 4k and 1080p available

Audio Package: Available with any camera package. All the above cameras record 2 channels of audio directly to camera. Tascam audio recorder records 4 channels if you need more. The Rode shotgun mic is great for recording dialogue. The receiver for the Saramonic wireless mics can be mounted directly to the top of any of the above cameras. The Rode M5s are great for recording music or speech.
